In the course of a typical dream, you will be treated to a wide range of emotions.
Usually, you wouldn’t remember a pleasant dream.
Unfortunately, when we find ourselves laughing in a dream, it’s very easy to forget such night visions.
After all, the dream images that tend to stick with us involve some emotional excitement of the worst kind.
Maybe you’re being chased by a madman or being hunted down by cannibals in your own version of the zombie apocalypse.
Or worse yet, you are being raped and shot.
I think you would agree that most people would wake up after those dreams short of breath, in a cold sweat, and trying to figure out what just happened.
But laughing in a dream can be significant.
This post gets to the bottom of what it means if you find yourself laughing in a dream.
Believe it or not, your subconscious is trying to get across some important lessons to you.
The big challenge is remembering such dreams.
What Does It Mean When I’m Laughing In A Dream?
Laughing in a dream usually has positive connotations.
It indicates that your subconscious is telling you that things are going well in your life.
There are certain things present in your life where you can find joy and happiness if you choose so.
The big challenge here is we focus on things we feel are missing.
We are more concerned with our frustrations and anxieties about things that we didn’t get or the goals we haven’t achieved, and we rarely take stock of the things we have going for ourselves.
Laughing in a dream reminds us of just how good our lives are in the here and now.
Sure, there may be challenges, frustrations, and loose ends.
But your subconscious is trying to draw your attention to the fact that, on the whole, you have a life worth celebrating.
You may have a lot of bruises, scars, and even recently healed wounds, but your life is still worth celebrating.
Accept it or not, and like it or not, those challenges and trauma made you who you are.
You are your own person; there’s only one of you, and you are worth celebrating.
Sometimes laughing in our dreams can cause us to laugh and smile even more in our waking lives.
A laugh is free, and you show your heart to the universe when you laugh.
This is not a meaningless act.
When you give yourself permission to laugh and just let go emotionally in a positive way, you send out positive vibrations to the universe, which has a positive impact.
You might not recognize that signal when it bounces back to you, but it usually comes in a pleasant form.
General Dream Interpretation and Symbolism of Laughing In Dreams
Your subconscious is always picking up signals from the universe.
It cannot be denied or lied to.
It always picks up signals and is busy connecting the dots.
And if you, like most people, are blinded by your assumptions, expectations, upbringing, and beliefs, a lot of this stuff isn’t obvious.
It’s as if your waking mind is on one track and your subconscious is on another.
But just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not real.
From time to time, your subconscious communicates to you in the form of dreams to get across very important truths that it’s picking up.
Maybe you’re too busy and overlooked these truths; maybe you’re so hung up on who you think you are or certain beliefs that you’re practically blind to certain realities in your life.
Whatever the case may be, your subconscious is telling you by way of a laughing dream that things are not only okay now, but good times are coming.
Pessimists, natural skeptics, and jaded people have a hard time with this.
In many cases, these people would not be exactly excited when good things happen to them.
They let their expectations defeat them.
The problem is when you set your expectations so high, it’s going to be very hard for you to identify things that are going right and to celebrate just how good you have it.
It is never enough even if you reach the highest summits of success in your life; everything still rings hollow.
This is on you; it’s not on the universe or the people around you.
You have a way of kicking your happiness down the road.
Even when you reach the next milestone, you still have the habit of setting the bar so high that you never allow yourself to be contented and appreciative.
Well, when you find yourself laughing in a dream, it’s a sign that good times are already happening or they are about to come your way.
Your subconscious is picking up certain signals that you’ve overlooked or underestimated.
No matter its precise operations, these dreams suggest that you will be happy with every aspect of your life, including your career, family, and love life.
You feel complete and that you’ve arrived.
This dream, above all else, means that you have to take realistic stock of your life and lose yourself in the moment from time to time.
Give yourself the opportunity to stop trying to be somebody or quit striving for the next level.
Just take a deep breath, feel your surroundings, and let your deep self-awareness overcome you, and get in touch with the inner calm that self-appreciation and gratitude bring to the table.
It’s crucial; this is not optional because if you want to be happy and content, you have to pick up this skill.
What Does It Mean When You’re Dreaming About Laughing Hard or Loudly?
If the main image of your dream involves you laughing hard or there’s some loud laughter, pay close attention to the imagery.
Is it zooming in on you laughing? Does it indicate that there’s somebody else in the same room as you? Did somebody tell a joke, or were you laughing at somebody?
One of the most troubling elements of envy is that it’s hard to detect because most of us are in denial.
Other people are envious, but never us.
One way to tell is to focus on what you feel when something bad happens to somebody you know.
This is what’s happening with the meaning of loud laughter or laughing hard.
If your mental camera focuses on you laughing and there’s somebody else in the room, this can indicate that someone you know has many problems and is stressed in their waking life.
They might need your support right now more than ever.
They might be feeling vulnerable and alone.
Now I understand what you’re thinking; you’re probably feeling guilty.
This is just your subconscious being honest with you, and you don’t have to accept this guilty feeling.
You can respond by checking on your friends and genuinely asking how they’re doing.
When you do this, you know you’re sincere when you’re not comparing yourself to them.
Instead, you just make yourself emotionally available to them.
Another symptom of ego-driven, “fake” concern or disguised envy is when you try to solve that person’s problem.
For example, your best girlfriend is going through a divorce or separation; instead of just letting them get stuff off their chest and being a comfortable presence for them, you give them all sorts of lectures about communication.
Worse yet, you attack their soon-to-be ex.
You need to check yourself because a lot of that energy comes from a place of envy, or at the very least, unsettled negative emotions.
What Does It Mean to Dream of Mocking Laughter From Other People?
Now let’s take a different perspective.
If the mental camera switches to the other side and you see yourself being the center of mocking laughter from people around you, this can indicate a sense of shame.
You feel self-conscious about a weird situation that happened in your life.
A part of you is uncomfortable because you’ve gone through a lengthy process of covering it up or coming up with some justification for why people shouldn’t find fault with you.
Whatever the case may be, you fear judgment by other people.
This is traumatic because even though you may be an adult as you read this, but the feeling of being left out, shamed, embarrassed, or ridiculed during your school days sticks with you for life.
Nobody wants to go through that, and when you have a dream about mocking laughter, it triggers the emotional mix.
Being laughed at is not a good feeling for any person.
Feelings can be hurt, and I’m not just talking about a short-term embarrassment but a lingering one.
Dreams where people are mockingly laughing at you, might symbolize the fact that you’re slipping into a psychological and emotional state where your fear of being humiliated, embarrassed or rejected is taking over your life.
Maybe you’re not as bold or outgoing as you’d like.
Perhaps you’re not as forgiving as you could be.
Whatever the case may be, the trauma is causing unhealthy reverberations inside you.
What Does It Mean to Dream of Children Laughing?
When you see random kids laughing in your dream, it indicates that positive changes are coming your way.
You might feel afraid to experience changes in your life because of past disappointments.
As I mentioned earlier, you may be the type of person who sets the bar so high that you’re still not quite happy even if you achieve your goals.
It’s not as bright and awesome as you imagined it to be, so you base your happiness on you meeting your next goal.
The truth is you don’t need to worry because you can turn your ideas, goals, wishes, and hopes into reality.
What’s important is for your decisions to be guided by clear thinking and well-laid out goals.
The Other Side of Children Laughing In A Dream
As positive as children laughing may be in the normal sense, it can also have the opposite meaning depending on the context.
The children laughing in your dreams can indicate your inner child or some unresolved issue in your past.
Sometimes we are so sad that we get to the point that the only thing we can do is laugh.
This means that a period of sadness might be coming over your loved ones or even your friends.
What Does It Mean to Dream About Children Laughing Joyfully In A Group?
If you see a group of children in your dream and they’re laughing joyfully, maybe, at somebody’s joke, this can indicate a reunion of family or friends catching up with each other.
This is no ordinary reunion.
Your subconscious is picking up signals from your communications with the people closest to you that there will be some heart-to-heart talk or resolution of long-held issues.
Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they have a problem with you, and you’re going to have a heart-to-heart talk that will finally tie loose ends.
I’m not talking about that kind of thing, although that might happen and will be welcomed.
But generally speaking, this type of image indicates being in the right place at the right time with the right people where your presence with each other triggers mutual catharsis.
By being together in the same place and time, you all establish a unique healing place where everybody can get over one of their major issues.
This is worth having and one of the reasons people have friends and family.
We help each other overcome our inner challenges.
Stay tuned for this situation; keep your eyes peeled for such an opportunity.
What Does It Mean to Dream of Sleep Laughing?
When you find yourself laughing in your sleep in your dream, it might seem funny, and it does look odd.
But it indicates a sense of hopelessness regarding a situation.
Sleeping and laughing in your dream can mean that you’re a person who loves to laugh even during difficult situations, but you’ve forgotten the reason why you’re laughing.
It’s as if it’s an automatic response, and you laugh as a reflex.
Generally, people laugh to express emotion, bond but also to cope.
When you’re sleep-laughing, and it takes an involuntary form, you’re stuck in the coping stage.
This is not necessarily bad because this is exactly what you need to get to the next day during tough times.
But this doesn’t mean that you must stay at that level.
Eventually, you must go from surviving to thriving, which requires taking risks.
But if you are suspicious of the intentions of certain people around you, it’s going to be very hard to do.
You know that you need to do it, but you don’t want to be disappointed again.
You’ve been let down so many times that it’s no longer worth the bother.
But it’s worth the gamble because you’re not doing it for them; you’re doing it for you.
Depending on who you’re with and what you’re wearing, this can indicate good health.
This may come as a surprise if you’re going through anxiety, depression or if you’re physically ailing.
Still, the truth is that your subconscious tells you that you have a lot to feel good about, both emotionally and physically.
You have to be more engaged physically.
I’m not saying that you should run out of the door after you’ve read this and jog ten miles, but you need to be more active.
The laughter in your dream and your connection to the people as they laugh with you indicates your physical, spiritual, and mental connection with the rest of the universe.
This is the kind of reverberating laughter that enables you to heal from within while also being a channel of healing to those around you.
What Does It Mean When You Dream About Hearing and Watching A Woman Laugh?
It depends on who the woman is.
If it’s your mother, it indicates that you are past her judgment.
You are your own person, and you don’t need to constantly try to please her or live up to her expectations.
You share this laugh with her because you’ve become an adult.
Her laughing at you without you feeling negative indicates that you’ve matured to the point where you can laugh at her as well; she is your equal now, even though she brought you into this world.
I know this is a hard concept for many people to grasp, but it is a necessary realization for people to truly mature.
A Laughing Woman In Your Dream and Romantic Relationships
If the woman in your dream is somebody you’re in a relationship with, like your girlfriend or wife, this can indicate insecurities regarding the relationship.
But it depends on the context because just as laughter fades, feelings fade.
If anything, this type of dream imagery should remind you that real, meaningful relationships are based on the relationship and not on each other.
I know that’s hard for many people to accept, but if you think that a relationship is an arrangement where you get what you need in exchange for giving the other person what they need, it is not a romantic relationship but a contract.
And like other contracts, if they fail to keep the end of their bargain, nothing prevents you from failing to perform.
It’s pretty sad.
So when you hear and watch a woman laugh, and it is somebody you’re romantically involved with, pay close attention to the interchange.
They see if other details tie into whatever issues present in your relationship.
If anything, it should push you into a more intimate, frank, and open level of communication.
Dreaming About Hearing Very Funny and Loud Laughs
If the laughs you hear in your dream are in the context of a comedy show, this can indicate that you have matured to the point that you can laugh at yourself.
Wait, there’s more.
If you sense this, do not be surprised if there’s a big promotion or lucrative business opportunity soon for you.
It can indicate financial success and long-term abundance.
Dream Example #1
It was a bright day. The birds hop from tree to tree, tweeting excitedly at the arrival of the bright morning. The leaves on the trees still dripping with water. It was 9:15 am but the sky is very clear and bright.
Rainfall was very heavy the night before, and everywhere was flooded with water. I stepped out of the house into the warmth of a bright new day.
Something was special about this Saturday, but I haven’t placed my hand yet on it. what it could be? For now, I can only thank God for the warmth and beauty of today. I was drenched by the rain last night on my way back from work, shaking with cold from head to toe.
I sat on the iron rail in front of the house. And looked up into the clear sky. The warmth of the sun caressed my face, giving me a warm sensation. I heaved a sigh of relief, as my mind became clear and settled. I closed my eyes and inhaled the freshness of the air. This is pure bliss and I couldn’t have asked for more.
I opened my eyes and I saw her. I closed my eyes again and opened it; I couldn’t believe I was seeing Kunbi. When did she get back from Lagos?
Different thoughts flooded my heart all at once. Should I approach her? or should I just wait and allow her to come to where I was seated?
Kunbi had been my childhood friend and we were very close. She is in her final year at the University of Lagos where she is studying Medicine and Surgery. I have also started my career in a Law firm in Ibadan, the same city that I grew up in. My feelings for her had risen beyond friendship lately. But I was too afraid of rejection. She is pretty and intelligent and every man’s dream.
“Henry”
I jacked out of my thoughts immediately.
“Hello Kunbi, I’m so surprised to see you”.
“Yea, I came back yesterday in the afternoon,” she said. She was putting on a pair of jeans and a pink top. Her hair was done in a ponytail. She looked very beautiful.
“This is a beautiful morning, and I just decided to take a stroll outside. And where else can I go than your house?” she added.
My heart swelled at the last comment. And a part of my brain is telling me that this is the best moment to strike up the conversation.
“Let’s take a stroll” she suggested.
I couldn’t resist the offer and I was already moving in her direction.
My heart began to beat faster. I was thinking hard on which angle to approach this delicate matter of the heart. Kunbi had been my childhood friend. We went to the same elementary school. And we had been very close friends since then. I don’t want to lose this friendship.
“It seems your mind is not here”.
I snapped out of my thoughts.
“Is there something bothering you. And would you mind telling me?” She asked. A look of concern was written on her face.
I couldn’t answer. I stopped on my track and took a deep breath. Looking into her eyes, I finally opened my mouth.
“There is something on my mind, ” I said.
“Okay. And what could that be?”. She looked into my eyes searching for a clue. I took another deep breath.
Her face was expressionless for a moment.
My heart began to pound.
It was pounding heavily, I could feel it from my eardrum.
Her eyelid birthed as the message sank in.
Then suddenly, she began to laugh.
I was confused.
She laughed louder and was struggling to catch her breath.
And without knowing what struck me, I also began to laugh.
I was laughing as if someone had just pulled a very funny joke.
I tried to control myself, but I only went into another round of laugher.
Then I heard a bang.
And a heavy and continuous bang very close to my heart.Suddenly, I opened my eyes. I was dreaming.
I looked around, and here I am in my room and with books scattered all over the place.
Another bang on the door.
I jumped up and opened the door. It was my brother.
Dream Example #2
It was the football match between Chelsea football club and Manchester United.
Chelsea had just scored another goal and we were very excited, bringing the goals to 2-0 in favor of Chelsea FC.
It was around 5:30 pm, and about fifteen minutes to the end of the second half.
I was happy at their performance but was much more excited about the bet that I had placed.
With fifteen minutes to the end of the match, I couldn’t sit down again.
I decided to watch the match in a bar today, because I find it more fun to be around people when watching a football match.
Manchester United fans that were at the bar were not happy at the turn of events today. And they have blamed the referee for the goals that they conceded. About five minutes to the end of the match.
Manchester United was awarded a penalty.
I was terrified and praying ceaselessly in my heart.
Then they missed the penalty.
I jumped up in joy.
I had won fifty thousand naira.
I couldn’t believe my luck.
It had been a long time I won anything from the bet.
“I am buying drinks for every one of you” I announced excitedly.
“Thank you, bro, that is nice,” one of the Manchester United fans beside me said.
“Though our performance tonight was not impressive, I will still celebrate with you” he added.
I drank two bottles of my favorite beer. I was tempted to order the third bottle, but I remembered that I will be driving.
I came to a police checkpoint and I was asked to stop.
I parked the car beside the road and came down.
“Where are your vehicle papers” one of the policemen demanded.
I went into the car and handed him what he asked for.
He looked at my face.
“Young man, have you been drinking” he demanded.
My heart sank.
I had just taken two bottles of beer.
I looked at him, not knowing what to answer.
“You have been driving under the influence of alcohol” he queried.
I was getting scared now, without knowing what to do or say.
“I am sorry about that sir” I pleaded.
“You should know the right thing to do.Drinking and driving is a very dangerous thing. Is that correct?”
“Yes sir”
“So why did you decided to go against the law?”
“I was carried away by the celebration tonight”
“Is today your birthday?” He asked, looking at me sternly.
“No sir. Today is not my birthday, my club won the match tonight ”
I looked at him, not knowing how he would react to that.
“What club is that?”
“Chelsea and Manchester United played tonight and Chelsea won the match” I explained.
Then I saw him smile. I was surprised.
“Are you a Chelsea Fan?” He asked still smiling.
“Yes Sir, I am a big fan of Chelsea FC” I responded happily.
“Hmm.. that is good. I am also a Chelsea Fan” he said proudly.
On hearing that, my heart leaped for Joy.
“I will not arrest you because we belong to the same club.
But next time you should be careful.
I will not listen to any plead the next time “.
I was happy and shook his hand thanking him for his consideration.
Then we went on to discuss the transfer going on in the Premiership.
It was a happy conversation and we ended up becoming friends.
I left him and went home laughing at my narrow escape.
I would have been arrested tonight. But here I am still in the mood for celebration.
I laughed out loud with joy knowing that my fifty thousand naira will be smiling at me by tomorrow morning.
……… I woke up laughing.
I stooped and realized that it was a dream.
I recalled the dream vividly and started laughing. It was indeed a happy dream.
Dream Example #3
Dreaming of happy and fun memories is what everyone always wants, especially me.
Most of my dreams always make me laugh when I woke up, that sometimes I pee on my shorts because of laughing so hard.
There’s a time that I dream about the matter that my friends and I are laughing earlier that day.
In my dream, what happened earlier was repeated, and I can’t stop laughing.
My friends and I are walking down an empty street while gossiping about our batchmate, who was recently married to a wealthy older man.
One of my loud friends keeps on explaining the true story behind the fixed marriage; she’s the close friend of our batchmate, so she knows every story behind it.
As we continue to walk and listening to the story, I notice that one of our friends is missing, so I stopped and asked them where “Clara” is. So, we start to look for Clara, and even shouting her name, but there’s no answer.
We went back to where we came from to see if we left her behind and waiting for us.
As we walk, we were shouting her name until we heard her voice, but it sounds like that she’s far away or under the ground. So, we follow the sound as we call her.
Finally, we found her, INSIDE AN OPEN MANHOLE!
Instead of helping her, we were laughing so hard that even Clara is also laughing at herself.
We asked her how it happened, but instead of explaining it clearly, she laughs first, and it’s contagious. Maybe it’s almost five minutes of laughing.
Every time our laugh lowered down, my friends and I looked at each other, and we started to laugh again.
So, we look for someone who can rescue her because the black, stinky mud inside the hole is up to the waistline.
When she was out of the hole, the shoes were missing, she got stinky clothes, and broke her smartphone. Instead of crying, she’s laughing because of her not paying attention while walking and texting.
We ask the house owner near the road if she can at least wash the mud from her legs, and he gladly helped us, but the bad smell from the clothes is still there. The daughter also lends her the slippers, so she’s not bare-footed.
A bus ride will not work, nor an Uber, because of her smell. In that case, we all decided to walk for four kilometres to get her home.
While walking, we can’t stop talking and laughing about what happened to her and imagining more worst scenarios if we could not notice that she’s already missing.
Finally, we reached her home, and the parents are so worried about their daughter.
When the parents ask her what happened, she began to laugh again.
We, her friends, are trying to hold our breath so that we will not laugh, but we burst out laughing.
The parents started to suspect that we were all drunk, so I try to hold the laughter to explain what happened.
Seconds after I told them what happened, they were all laughing so hard, because they can imagine what happened.
I am not able to finish my dream because someone woke me up. After all, I am laughing while sleeping.
