Dreaming of a House I’ve Never Been to

Never underestimate the power of your imagination. With imagination, you can travel to worlds that you’ve never been to. You can travel to different dimensions that stretch the boundaries of your senses.

With imagination, you can overcome your assumptions and expectations. In other words, thanks to this natural human ability, you are able to transcend the boundaries of your mind.

You just have to trust yourself enough. This is what is at the core of dreaming of a house I’ve never been to.

The key factor in any kind of interpretation of this type of dream is familiarity.

Familiarity Is Both Comforting and Restricting

Let’s face it. Human beings are creatures of habit.

When you dream about places you’ve been to or better yet you dream of an interior space that you have grown accustomed to, you don’t want to leave it. You feel that you already know what there is to know about what else is out there and you prefer the security and comfort of “home.”

When you dream about houses that function as your home, this is precisely what is at play. Your subconscious is not necessarily communicating something to you about the physical structure that you live in.

Instead, it’s trying to draw your attention to what you become familiar and comfortable with.

Now, please understand that there is a big difference between being familiar with something and being so comfortable with it that you refuse to stray from it.

Being familiar is not a problem. But being dependent is sure going to hold you back because we live in a fast-changing world. Change, after all, is the only constant in life.

And when you put yourself in a mental and emotional space where you don’t feel like you need to change because you’re so comfortable when things are so convenient, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Strengthen Your Mental and Emotional Muscles

When you dream of being in your home or in an interior space that functions as your home, pay close attention to how comfortable you are.

If the whole scene plays out within the home and the theme is you don’t want to leave and you don’t want to open the door or even look out the window, this indicates an unwillingness to change on your part. I really can’t blame you because human beings, by and large, are creatures of habit.

We grow accustomed to certain things. With everything else being equal, if we are given a choice to do something that we’ve always done before to produce an expected result and do something else entirely with uncertain results, most people would go with the tried-and-proven.

This is especially true if they think that they’re going to be paying a big cost for the decision. I hope you get when I am going with this.

Because your subconscious is telling you, when it shows you the image of a home, that you have certain mental habits.

And the more you see yourself refusing to leave the house or even look through the window or open the door and get out, it indicates this attachment to things that you know.

Dreaming About a House That You’ve Never Been to

If you find yourself in the interior space of a house that you’ve never been to, this is actually a good sign because this is not a typical house dream.

This is not a message from your subconscious indicating that you may be stuck in certain areas of your life because you’re afraid to try something new. As the old saying goes, insanity is defined as “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result each time.”

When you’re stuck in your ways, you only want to do certain things, and don’t be surprised if you produce the same narrow range of results.

This is where the frustration comes in.

Most people wouldn’t focus on the fact that they’re not taking chances or they’re not broadening their horizons or challenging their comfort zones. Instead, they are ready, willing, and eager to blame other people or circumstances beyond their control.

Well, the problem is that this leads to a dead end.

Unfamiliar Houses Indicate the Need to Stop Blaming

The first step to unlocking the power of this very powerful dream imagery is to look at what people normally do when they feel stuck.

When they feel that things are not gonna change or they’ve seen what life has to offer and they’re disappointed, what’s really going on is an unwillingness to let go of their current life pattern.

They don’t want to let go of the path that they’re on. They actually want to have their cake and eat it too.

They don’t want to change. They want to just keep things the way they are.

This includes their feelings, emotions, childhood assumptions and expectations, the people that they feel that they’re connected to, their conception of the future, and many other things, even their spiritual life.

But at the same time, they want the best things that life has to offer. This is a problem.

The Law of Cause and Effect Is Always in Effect

If you feel that you’re not getting the kind of results that you feel you deserve, maybe you’re doing things or making certain decisions that produce the results that you’re not all that happy with.

This can be all you need to understand that it may be time to explore different notions. This might be the signal that the Universe is sending you that you might want to explore what else is out there.

It may feel like you have been living in the basement of your feelings and emotions, especially when it comes to success as well as childhood issues, and it may be time to venture out.

It might even feel that you’re living in a mental or emotional attic. It can even feel like a haunted house because you’re always conversing with ghosts, guilt, and disappointments of the past.

But none of this is going to help you unless and until you decide to try something new.

Unfamiliarity Can Be the Key to Your Mental Prison

I don’t want to come off like I’m being overly harsh, but a lot of the time, when people feel that they’re stuck, they are just engaged in self-pity.

Emotionally intelligent people understand that they made the decisions or choices that led them to where they are now. Whatever emotions and feelings that they’re struggling with on a day-to-day basis came from those past decisions.

The good news is however negative or heavy those feelings and emotions may be, they are products of choices. And just like you can choose to leave the attic or escape the basement, you can make different decisions today.

Is it easy to get on a more positive path? No! Absolutely not!

Because whatever negative emotions and feelings you may have or whatever oppressive interpretation you may have of your childhood, they’ve formed a sort of comforting mental and emotional prison for you. As the old saying goes, better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know.”

And this is why people would rather remain in place.

You Have to Explore What’s out There

They know that the ultimate answer to whatever emotional issues are holding them back and preventing them from spiritual flourishing is out there. They know that they have to explore.

They know that that they have to find the courage to make day-to-day changes as far as their choices as to what to think about, what to dwell on and the kind of meanings that they should focus on.

These are the kind of spiritual details that lead to true liberation, and it’s all rooted in our ability to choose in the here and now.

But most people don’t even bother with this. They don’t want to recognize that they have this power because it’s scary.

What if I fail? What if I land in an even worse situation? What if the feelings and emotions that confront me are overwhelming?

Well, these are the types of questions that people face and end up scaring them into making a decision for change.

Living in an Unknown House Indicates Your Intuition

It’s too easy to live your life chasing after ghosts. It’s as if there are certain rooms in your intellectual, emotional, and psychological interior spaces that are flat-out haunted.

I’m not talking about haunted in terms of ghosts or phantasms and spirits. I’m talking about being haunted by the past and whatever pain and more importantly pleasure they bring to the table.

You may be thinking to yourself:

“What’s so pleasurable about a bitter past where you can remember being abused, being abandoned, rejected, or taken for granted? What is so awesome about a childhood where one grew up with a distinct sense of ‘lack,’ where you feel you simply didn’t get enough?

I did not get enough love, enough hugs. enough encouragement, or even enough support. How is that pleasurable?”

But the truth is these haunted interior spaces provide you with a sense of comfort and relief. You know that they’re far from perfect, but as I said earlier, “better the Devil you know than the Devil you don’t know.”

So, even though you know that thinking about these things and living with their day-to-day consequences and legacies only lead to further misery and a sense of hopelessness, you end up confusing familiarity with comfort.

So, part of you is frozen in place. It’s paralyzed because it feels that what it stands to gain by looking at the sun of your soul directly by getting out of the cave of your insecurities and past decisions is simply not enough compared to what you already have.

And let me clue you in on a secret: People are creatures of rewards and punishments.

Look Past the Current Rewards You Are Getting

The reason why most people stay with negative self-conceptions or low self-esteem and very little self-respect is that whatever it is that they have now produces just enough rewards for them to not want to move on.

At this point, you really have two choices. You can look at whatever rewards you are getting (and normally this simply involves just a sense of relief from having to try) and compare it with what you stand to get.

If this is too intellectual for you or if it’s too sterile and abstract, look at the lives of other people that made changes. You shouldn’t have to look far. In your personal network of friends and family, there are sure to be people who were a certain way before.

You know their emotional states. You know their past.

Maybe you’ve known them since your childhood. Look at what happened to them.

They didn’t stay in the past. They decided to take a gamble.

In other words, they had such a profound sense of love for their conception of self that they found it worth fighting for and taking a chance on.

It’s Going to Be a Long Journey

There’s a reason why your mind is showing you exploring a house you’ve never been to.

On one level, this is an indication of an unknown world, a place that you can go to. This is a world that you can achieve in your personal day-to-day existence.

But it only happens when you choose it to become real.

Your new surroundings point to the possibilities of the future.

And just because it’s unfamiliar doesn’t mean it’s not worth pursuing because oftentimes something better is found in the unknown.

If you think things are good now, it can be much better. If you think you have it all figured out now, wait until you see the future.

But it takes courage to take that path.

You have to take the chance of being hurt. You have to take the risk of being disappointed.

Refusing to Fail Is Failure in of Itself

You may be thinking to yourself:

“Well, I know that I’m capable of so much more. I know that I can be in a better relationship. I know I could be making more money.

I could be feeling better about myself. I can look better when I look in the mirror.”

You probably have a long list of things that “could be better.”

At the same time, part of you is saying:

“Well, is it worth the effort? This takes a lot of work.

Do I have the resources? Do I have the time? Most importantly, do I have the right emotions for this?”

The truth is if the primary emotional state that you experience when you think about change is fear and apprehension, you are actually not looking at the big picture.

When you’re afraid to make changes in whatever area of your life because you feel that you’re failing, you are refusing to see that you are already failing.

You’re losing out on whatever improvement you can enjoy. You’re losing out on whatever freedom you can attain by making these changes.

A lot of this fear is rooted in your childhood, but also it can involve the mental habits that you have picked up along the way.

Stop Settling for Crumbs

As I’ve mentioned earlier, mindsets are choices. Your coping mechanisms are reflections of the choices that you made in the past and the outcomes that you’ve experienced.

The reason why you’re sticking to whatever life pattern and emotional state and attitudes you may have right now is because there is some sort of reward.

But here’s the problem.

If you’re like most people, you’re settling for crumbs. If the main reward you’re getting is the fact that you are spared from the heartbreak and disappointment of having tried, then it’s very easy to just sink into a downward spiral where you try less and less.

Before you know it, whatever competence and self-confidence that you have managed to build up all these years go up in smoke.

Because just like a muscle, if you refuse to exercise your emotional and spiritual muscles for possibility, adventure, risk-taking, and desiring and acting on a better life, it gets weaker and weaker over time.

I wish I could tell you that all this means is that you were less likely to reflect on your life so far and desire meaningful change.

I wish that’s the only damage, but no!

What’s Worse?

It makes you fearful. It brings out the worst in you when you refuse to try because now, the world seems impossible.

Because you’re less capable and you’re less confident, and this creates a negative feedback loop where the less you try the less competent you become and the less confident you are about things, and the less confident you are the less you try and the negative cycle repeats itself again.

It’s a race to the bottom of your soul and it’s bad news.

But the good news is that this is all spiritual. It’s all within you and you can make certain changes.

You can get out from under whatever internal forces you’ve hung on to that have haunted you for all these years.

Failure in this context is nothing to be feared. Instead, it is something to be welcomed.

Failure Is Your Friend

If you see in your dream, going from an old house to a new part of the house, or dreaming of a house that is completely unfamiliar, this can indicate a change you need to make regarding how you think about key issues in your life.

In fact, if you see your childhood home flashed in the distance or somehow part of the imagery that you see as you navigate from your old house to dreaming about houses that you’ve never been to, this can indicate that your mind is open or at least your subconscious is receptive to a new way of looking at things.

And let me give you something that you need to think about. Most people fear failure. It’s easy to see why.

You put in the time. You put in your resources. You expended effort. And you have very little to show for all of that.

You feel that you just wasted your time. But did you really?

Because oftentimes when we fail, we learn certain things about our decisions, how we make decisions, and how things play out in the real world. This is valuable stuff.

This is stuff that you can’t buy. You have to go through it.

Do Something New

Now, there are all sorts of books, mentorship programs, tutorials, and other materials that show you how things can play out. But they remain theoretical.

Until and unless your emotions are engaged and you find yourself in a situation where you can reflect on what just happened, you’re not really learning.

So, the point is by making it your goal to try something new and giving yourself permission to fail and learn, you eventually will be able to escape the black hole of stagnancy that you have found yourself in.

You also increase your chances of reigniting the fire of inspiration, imagination, and intuition that you have deep in you. You need to be guided by this fire.

Sure, fire burns fire also enlightens. It also lights up the surrounding darkness, and this can be all you need to get in better touch with your unconscious so you can tap into the power that you already have to make better decisions, explore new possibilities, and most importantly to spot the opportunities that are surrounding you.

Whatever it is that you’re struggling with, may it be spiritual, financial, emotional, relational, or whatnot, you are always surrounded by opportunities.

But the problem is we get their meanings confused. Oftentimes, we’re blind to them.

So, by resolving to want to try something new, day after day, and actively seek to learn from them, you start to map out a more realistic view of the world around you, both seen and unseen.

And this can lead to truly great places because the best version of you is still to come.

Dream Example #1

In life, everybody has their dreams, regardless of whether it be about vehicles, houses, or their career.

We all love to have a wonderful home with a perfect interior. Particularly when we move into a new home, there is always this excitement and rush in our bodies.

Each house has its very own story that has to be told and shared. In my dream, I went to a house that I have never been to or seen, and it was remarkable.

Ever since that night, it has become my dream house. I don’t remember the details of how I got there.

I was already inside the house talking to some people I have never met in my life, but they were my friends in that dream.

The house was big and fancy. There were chandeliers at the top of the ceiling located in the living area and the stairs.

The family room was the coziest place in that house. There were two sofas connected and has a glass table in the middle.

Finished with pieces of wood, the walls looked good. It looks like the inside of a cabin.

There were also four white lounge chairs and a wooden coffee table that sits in the center. It was late in the morning, and we were sitting on the sofa.

We were drinking some coffee in the living room while talking about some random things. Besides the living room, there’s the kitchen that can occupy 4-6 people.

There was also a dirty kitchen where most of the utensils and cooking needs were there. I can smell the food that they were cooking. Only by the smell of it, it is like I can already taste the delicious Bulalo.

The dining area and the kitchen are spotless, tiled with squares of white marble. That makes it look like a luxurious restaurant. The floor was also cleaned very well.

Upstairs, there was a theater room, and it was my favorite part of the house. I could stay there for a day without going out, watching some movies or series from Netflix.

The room can entertain six persons. The chairs were the type where you can stretch your feet. They have a cup holder at the right-hand part.

Outside, there were three bedrooms across the theater room. The master’s bedroom was the biggest, of course. It has a television inside and a walk-in closet beside the restroom.

The other two rooms are the same size. They have both queen size beds, and the walls in the rooms are both painted with white and sky blue themes.

There is also an area downstairs where there are bookshelves. It was full of books arranged by their genres.

Outside the house, there was a pool located near the garage. Their garage is big, and there were four cars parked. Two of them were SUVs, one was a sedan, and the other one was a van.

The front yard was also decorated with rare and beautiful flowers, such as orchids, lilies, and many more that I am not familiar with.

That dream was unforgettable and worth remembering.

Dream Example #2

I have a photographic memory, and even if it’s just once I went to a place, I can recall the place I’ve been.

So, whenever I have dreams about unfamiliar places, it keeps on rewinding inside my memory.

Whenever I am fatigued, I always dream about a house that I have never been to before. It’s a big, white, spacious and beautiful house with a garden of various plants and flowers.

The house is in an unfamiliar place with big gates outside.

Inside, the house has intricate and expensive interiors with sculptures.

The house shows that the owner is wealthy and well-taken care of, especially the big furniture made of expensive wood.

The place is mysterious because nobody’s there to greet me or asked me why am I inside their house.

I roam around the whole first floor, and I didn’t see anybody.

I inspect every exciting thing inside the kitchen because it’s like my ideal kitchen setup, even the utensils.

They have a complete set of cooking pots and pans that are in order.

Full utensils are inside the pull-out cabinets and drawers.

A complete set of herbs have their bottles arranged alphabetically.

The different kinds of knives are sticking on the magnetic board on the wall.

Dark, shiny granite countertops are so clean and tidy with electric utensils that they look new.

The refrigerator is full of food inside and has lots of fresh milk inside.

Everything inside the kitchen is in order; I think maybe the owner is meticulous.

I love cooking, and I consider the kitchen the heart of every home.

Even the dining area is so clean and inviting with refreshing scenery of flowers outside.

The living room is so big that it can accommodate up to forty persons, with a home theatre setup good furniture.

I went up to the second floor that makes me more in awe. The hallway to the rooms is so big, like the ones inside big and beautiful houses seen in movies.

Part of the hallway leads to a beautiful veranda with a pool overlooking the back garden.

The side of the pool has a minibar full of different alcoholic drinks and a personal refrigerator.

As I continue to go around the second floor, I notice that the door of the last room at the end of the hallway is open.

Out of curiosity, I peeked, and I saw an old maid arranging the bedsheets. Maybe, she sensed that I am looking at her, so she turned around and asked me who I am.

Before I introduce myself, I informed her first that I have no idea what brought me there, but I found myself that I am already inside the house’s gate, so I tried to check the house.

She told me that I am not the only person who was there unconsciously; there were already hundreds of people who got there before, and some didn’t make it to leave the house.

I keep calming myself when I heard what she said because I wonder why she’s the only person inside the house, and there’s an explanation behind that.

Dream Example #3

I found myself sitting leisurely on a soft couch. “Where am I?” I wondered as I roamed my eyes around the huge house. I’ve never been to this place before and I have never seen anything like this. The white marbles on the floor are very shiny that no speck of dust can be seen.

I looked up and saw the beautiful chandelier proudly hanging in the air. “Wow!” I gasped in amazement as I stood up. I tried to move my feet and only did I realize what I was wearing. “What is this?!” My long dress was blooming like a flower in the garden with laces and embroideries.

It was quite heavy and uncomfortable to move. The 3-inches sandals I was wearing shined against the gleam of sunlight. I couldn’t help but be amazed at my situation. It was as if I was brought back in time; in the Renaissance period to be precise. I made my way to explore the mansion and noticed several paintings of men and women I don’t recognize.

From the windows I’ve passed, I’ve seen a vast garden filled with flowers. I slowly walked in their direction and inhaled the sweet smell of pollen. The roses came into view with different colors such as red, white, yellow, and pink. I also saw other flowers like Carnations, Daisies, Lilies, Orchids, and such.

I have never been into a place as beautiful as this! Rather than being scared, I felt comforted by its lovely aura. I went back inside the mansion and saw the long staircase in the middle connecting to the higher floors. “Woah!” My jaw dropped at the sight as I carefully held the rails. The first floor was spacious, it contains three rooms to my right and three rooms to my left. “Uhmm excuse me.

Is anyone home?” I tried to knock on the door but heard no response. Seeing how no one is around, I assumed that maybe the owners are away. I slowly twisted the knob and the extravagant interior came into view. The large bed, carpeted flooring, clean bookshelves, and huge wardrobe made my jaw drop. There was even a set of sofas in the middle where a teapot was present with the cups.

This room would be unlikely owned by a man. From the flowery ornaments to the sweet scent of perfume as if someone has just applied it. I presume this is owned by the lady of the house. “Your Highness! There you are!” I jumped back in surprise as I heard a voice by the door.

I immediately panicked as I realized my situation. Uh oh! This won’t be good. Someone caught me entering another person’s room. “W-wait! I can explain!” I hurriedly defended myself as I waved my hands in the air. The woman, who is wearing a maid’s uniform looked at me with a confused expression. “What are you talking about, Your Highness?” Wait- what did she just call me? I blinked a couple of times before I remembered what I had to do “I-I didn’t know this place! Where am I? I think I got lost that’s why I entered another room but I mean no harm! I swear! I was just finding my way back home!” I frantically explained as I begged for her to believe me with my eyes.

She stared at me with an even more confused expression before parting her lips. “Your Highness, what are you talking about? This is your house and this is your room.” What? she shook her head and smiled once again “Let’s go, Your Highness. Your father, the Duke is waiting.” Wait! What? What is going on?
