If you dream about needles, you are dreaming about something quite unusual.
People have an uneasy relationship with these sharp objects.
On the one hand, we are reminded of our childhood nightmares of having to go to the doctor and getting an injection.
To get this type of treatment, what do you think the doctor will take out?
That’s right, a needle.
Needles are sharp.
And if you’ve ever played around with them, and you were little, you probably know how much they hurt.
But they can also deliver much needed relief and treatment.
No wonder if we dream about needles, we wake up confused.
Well, wonder no more.
You have come to the right post.
General meaning of a dream about needles
If you’re dreaming about needles, your subconscious is letting you know that on a day to day basis, you’re focusing on the small stuff.
Sure, a lot of this is necessary.
A lot of it is stuff that you have to go through to get from day to day.
But if you obsess about them, you run the risk of majoring in the minors.
You’re sweating about the small stuff so much that you miss the forest from the trees.
Have you ever thought about big opportunities that have come your way, and because you’re worried about small details, you let them slip from your grasp.
In fact, if you’re like most people, you probably didn’t even see them at all.
We all have regrets like this.
This can take many different shapes.
It could be the ideal job, the once in a lifetime opportunity to go to a great university, or a promotion that a lot of people around you would kill for that you failed to take.
It could also take the form of TOTGA, the one that got away.
Whatever form it takes, and whatever experiences you may have with this concept, you can’t help but feel regret, and a sense of loss.
You might even be thinking what could have been.
But this is the risk we run when we focus on the small stuff on a day to day basis.
Because when you look at your job for example, a lot of it has to do with email.
But at the end of the day, it’s not the email that will push you up the corporate ladder or make you a better and more effective person.
It’s something else.
It’s what those emails represent.
It’s those tasks that contain points too.
But if you are unable to connect the dots, then you will spend pretty much the rest of your life going from jumping from one email to the next and before you know it, it’s time to check out.
Pretty depressing, right?
This is precisely what the general interpretation of a dream about needles represents.
Needles are small, they prick, they can be annoying.
But in some cases they’re necessary but in the proper context.
What does it mean to dream of sewing with a needle?
If you are using a sewing needle in your dream chances are you’re focusing so much on little details involving your relationships that you have become unaware of just how much hurt you’re causing.
Now of course, this is not so harmful that people will actively get in your face and tell you to back off.
But your daily criticism or your off the cuff remarks or even thoughtless whispers has gotten to the point that people are simply just dismissing you.
They have put you in a neat little box.
The office snitch or the ineffective friend or the thoughtless colleague or the crazy uncle or aunt, or the worthless cousin.
You’re the last person to know about this.
Here you are living in this box that people mentally put you in and you’re just spouting your same stuff day in day out.
You’re worth more than this.
You know you’re capable of so much more but why focus on the small stuff?
Why insist on making a big deal out of molehills?
A lot of this has to do with the fact that at some level or other you think you’re better than the people surrounding you or you are blessed with some sort of inner access to a higher level of consciousness.
These are delusions.
Because even if you are blessed with a higher level of seeing, what good is that wisdom when people have become deaf to you?
That’s right, they shut their ears.
So it’s really important to understand what you’re doing.
Be mindful of what you’re saying.
Because when it comes to family, they can’t obviously just throw you out.
But sometimes, the fate that’s worse than death is to be emotionally shut out.
You’re still physically present, they invite you to Thanksgiving, they give you birthday presents, they greet you, and they even hug and kiss you.
But you’re pretty much in a mental prison cell as far as they’re concerned because when it comes to certain topics, they’re not hearing you.
Is this really the kind of relationship you want?
What does it mean to look for a needle in your dream?
You probably have heard of the saying “Looking for a needle in a haystack”.
A lot of the time the reason why people say that is because of the situation they find themselves in.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
Trying to find a needle in a haystack is just as productive as trying to find a diamond under a huge mountain of coal.
Eventually, the return on investment or return on effort is simply not going to be there.
When you dream of looking for needles, your subconscious is trying to communicate to you that your failure to look at the big picture has put you in this type of situation again and again.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
If you had a broader perspective, and if you’re more forgiving, chances are the needles will look for you.
They will be where you expected them to be.
But since you’re just aimlessly, trying to find fault with others and trying to nitpick your past in some weird search for perfection, nothing really works out.
You’re just left with one mild annoyance after another and it’s really all disappointing.
Pointless even.
If you’re looking for a needle in your dream, it’s important to understand that you should put a system in place.
In my home we have a sewing cupboard.
This is where stuff that you use for sewing or arts and crafts are stored.
We also have a linen cupboard so everything is in its place.
Of course in dream interpretation these are metaphors for mental and emotional tracking.
Everything must be in its place.
And the only person that can do that is you.
But right now you choose to live in an emotionally unorganized way.
You’re very emotionally reactive so you’re always spouting off when you should be listening.
You’re nitpicking when you should be looking at the big picture.
Do you see how this works?
Do you see how this could all work against you?
What does it mean to sew with a needle?
When you’re stitching things together with a needle this indicates that your subconscious is seeing that you are really trying to put an effort when it comes to getting along with other people.
But the problem is, you’re always trying to interject your judgment or your opinion into your conversations.
This makes you a fairly difficult person to get along with because it’s as if the person you’re talking to no matter who that person is, is basically forced to walk on eggshells around you.
They don’t want to throw you off, they don’t want you to go off on them, they don’t want you to experience some sort of emotional outburst.
This is very toxic.
Because the key to real communication is for the truth to flow.
But if the other person feels that there are certain topics that are off limits with you, you best believe that they’re going to censor themselves.
What do you think the loser will be?
That’s right, you because you’re not going to get the full picture.
They’re so afraid of stepping on your toes, emotionally speaking that they censor themselves.
You don’t get the whole truth, and this is going to come back and bite you.
The worst part of all of this is that you brought it on yourself, because you have shown yourself to be an overly sensitive person when it comes to certain topics.
These people are not just relatives or family members, but also people at work, at church, at school.
Something needs to give.
Because your increased sensitivity when it comes to certain things is really getting in the way of your relationships.
You have a lot to offer.
You’re a relatively intelligent person, you have a natural level of intelligence and you are capable of generosity.
But the problem is very few people are seeing the side of yourself because of over sensitivity.
What does it mean to dream about broken needles?
When you see yourself dealing with broken needles, maybe they’re bent out of shape, or they’re just split apart, you have to pay close attention to this type of nighttime vision.
Your subconscious is telling you that you overthink things to the point that you worry too much.
As I’ve repeatedly said in this blog, worry is an abuse of imagination.
It truly is.
You’re just wasting your time when you worry because you’re thinking about scenario after scenario of stuff that has yet to come.
You don’t know the probability of that stuff passing.
You just don’t know.
But here you are emotionally beating yourself up regarding worst case scenarios of what if this happens, what if that happens.
You have this long laundry list of alternative situations and they all leave you emotionally spent.
It’s not like you’re setting up a contingency plan based on facts that you could observe.
Instead, you’re just going through this emotional roller coaster imagining all sorts of doomsday scenarios involving people you care about and respect.
Stop doing that yourself because eventually you will run out of psychic energy.
You need this type of energy to be a more effective person in your day to day life.
So when you see yourself looking at broken needles in your perspective in your dream, sit up and pay attention.
You need to take a step back and relax mentally otherwise you’re overdoing things and over analyzing things and setting yourself up for a bad ending.
What does it mean to eat needles in your dream?
This is probably one of the most disturbing and fortunately rare dream images you will ever experience.
If you eat a needle in real life, it’s not going to be a pleasant experience.
Not only can it pierce your tongue but if it gets itself into your digestive tract, it can cause all sorts of damage.
When you see yourself eating needles in your dream this is an indication of your inability to trust.
The reason why you feel compelled to nitpick the people around you is because you can’t fully trust them.
This comes from an even more disturbing source.
Deep down inside you don’t trust yourself so you’re creating this negative feedback loop of toxic signals.
What you’re really trying to do is you’re trying to get some semblance of control but the problem is you’re doing it the wrong way.
Do you think criticizing people behind their back or passing malicious gossip back and forth is going to give you some sort of control?
No.
Far from it.
People are actually making their minds up against you and there’s really nothing you can do about it.
Except, say bad stuff about them and where do you think this will lead?
Even more people look at you differently in a negative way.
I hope you can see how this works.
It’s a negative feedback loop.
It’s a downward spiral.
Nothing good can come from this so you have to break the chain.
You have to stop eating needles, metaphorically.
Stop being so petty.
Be more forgiving.
Understand that people can and do screw up just as you screw up.
Because if you’re feeling and somehow that you’re immune from the common screw ups or mistakes that the people surrounding you make, think again.
It may be true that you don’t make the same mistakes as they do.
It may be true that you don’t commit the same sins they do.
But it’s also true that you make other mistakes and you commit other sins.
Just this mere fact takes away from you the right to judge them.
Do you see how this works?
So when you see yourself eating needles in your dream, this is a sign of an emotional self construction of occupying the moral high ground when you really have no sound reason for believing this.
This is all rooted in a deep and profound insecurity.
You have to first come to grips with the fact that you’re not perfect.
And if you’re not, then you really have no right to expect perfection from others.
Life is what it is.
It’s broken, it’s faulty.
But it’s also beautiful if you’re looking for beauty,
It can also be a very scary place if you’re looking for perfection.
So which is it?
What does it mean to dream about threading a needle?
If your specific needle that you are looking at is a sewing needle and you’re trying to thread it so you can sew, this indicates that your subconscious is detecting that you are beginning to see things in perspective.
You’re no longer trying to fit a square peg in a round hole when it comes to your relationships.
You realize that people are who they are, you just have to accept them.
You have to trust them up to a certain point.
That’s the best you can do just as they have to trust you.
And by insisting on perfection, you’re creating more enemies than friends.
You’re also turning away people who should have your back like family members.
This is not an easy process because it all begins with self forgiveness.
It all begins with letting go of perfection and dogmatic thinking about who you are and what the world owes you.
The world doesn’t owe you anything.
That is the cold hard truth.
