If you come from Asia, or Southeast Asia, and you had a dream of rice, you probably would not think twice about it.
You probably would even think that this is a very common dream, at least in that part of the world, because it is a staple.
Please understand that if you dream of rice, your subconscious is trying to tell you very important lessons.
Regardless of where you’re from, a dream of rice can pack quite a bit of meaning.
It can pay to take this type of dream seriously.
The general meaning of rice dreams
When you dream of rice your subconscious is using this very powerful dream symbol to communicate a sense of well being as far as your spiritual life goes.
In the 1940, a psychologist named Abraham Maslow, came up with a concept called the hierarchy of needs.
One can visualize it like a pyramid of different human needs.
At the bottom of this pyramid is the need to be safe, secure, and fed.
In other words, at the bottom of every human person’s needs are the basics.
This is the stuff that forms the bare minimum of human existence.
But as you go up the pyramid, you get closer and closer to a more meaningful life.
Because at the top of the pyramid, is transcendence.
You’re no longer focused on getting by on a day to day basis.
All the basics have been taken care of.
At that point, you can then afford to think about why you’re here and what is the purpose of your existence.
In other words, once you have lived your life, you want to know if the life that you lived truly mattered.
You’re not just here to eat, piss, shit, fuck, grow old, get sick, and then die.
Pretty heavy duty stuff.
Because for the longest time, most of humanity was stuck at that bottom tier of the needs hierarchy.
In fact, in many parts of the world, people are still focused on the basics.
They really do not have the time and consider it a luxury to think about things like, “Why am I here?”, “What is the purpose of my life?”, “What am I doing with my life?”, “Is my existence making an impact?”, “What are my contributions to making the world a better place for the next generation”.
Instead, the focus is on just eating enough so you can have the strength to have a next generation.
That’s pretty much it.
But when you live your life, most people actually go up this hierarchy.
When they are babies, they grow up and turn into teens, and as they grow, they pick up skills.
Their competence in handling life’s ups and downs increases.
That’s what experience does to people.
The key here is to understand that the more competent you are, the more experiences you have, the better you are able to take care of your needs.
And of course, if you don’t fully invest in yourself, like with a proper education or skills training, it’s going to have a negative impact on how you take care of your basic needs.
But for the most part, everybody moves up this hierarchy.
But at the very top is the need to mean something.
When you dream of rice, your subconsciousness is indicating that for the most part, your basics are taken care of.
Now is the time to explore deeper issues of meaning, because this will make you a happier, more fulfilled and ultimately more effective person.
People who are bitter, send out toxic signals, because some of their lower needs haven’t been taken care of.
The problem with this is that it’s not anybody else’s responsibility.is responsibility.
You are responsible for yourself.
People who say to you that they love you, and that they wish the best for you and they only want your best interest in mind, most of them truly mean it.
The problem is they’re too busy taking care of their needs that there may not be enough to take care of yours.
You have to step up and practice self care.
Even if you are the type of person who loves helping others you have to care enough about yourself to build a solid foundation so there is something to give.
Do you see how this works?
When you dream of rice, your subconscious is telling you that you have escaped the position of being toxic or being bitter.
And now you are in a position to focus on meaning and to focus more time and attention on leaving a positive impact on the world.
What does it mean to eat rice in your dreams?
When you see yourself eating rice in your nighttime vision, your subconscious is sending you a signal regarding your consistency of action.
So far, you have been dependable in giving yourself enough time and space to think about the heavier stuff.
Congratulations.
Most people never get to this point because as I mentioned earlier, they focus on the things that they feel that they must do.
You have to understand that we have two lists that we’re always struggling with.
On one list are things that we know we should do.
We should lose weight, we should read more, we should travel more, we should develop ourselves by talking to other people, and we should also keep a journal.
The list goes on and on.
We all know that if we do these things, we live a more meaningful and effective life.
They can help us scale up our competence, which leads to higher levels of confidence and effectiveness.
The other list is more common.
Because for most of us, this is the only list we’re aware of, these are the things that we must do.
We must pay the rent or the mortgage, we must show up to work, we must find the money to pay for insurance, so on and so forth.
What happens is we focus so much on this list that we have absolutely no energy and willpower left for our other list.
The reality is that the other list is what makes our lives so much better.
But we never get around to that list because we’ll just focus on getting from day to day.
If you want to be a more effective person, you have to invest time on your “should do list”.
You should tackle those things one by one.
If you see yourself eating rice, in your dreams, your subconscious is letting you know and trying to make you aware of the fact that you are dependently tackling your should do list.
This is a positive sign.
Keep going.
And I know it may seem like a hassle and it obviously feels that there’s so many other”more important” things you should be doing but this is an investment.
That 15 minutes that you spend every day practicing mindfulness and meditation can go a long way in helping you become a less emotional and more logical thinker.
That 15 minutes you spend walking around a block or doing a quick jog, can go a long way in reducing your blood pressure and keeping type two diabetes away.
Those few pages that you read every single day, when you’ve made the time go a long way in helping you become an expert, and a more critical thinker.
These are not small things that you can easily forget and don’t mean anything.
Instead, these are the building blocks for a more effective and insignificant life.
What is the meaning of dreams about steamed rice?
There are many different countries in the world where rice is a staple.
And if you’ve ever been to an Asian restaurant, it’s easy to get the impression that the only way to prepare rice is to come up with a nice steaming fluffy bowl of rice.
But in reality, you can have rice risotto, biryani rice, and a whole range of different rice preparations.
Rice pilaf is particularly yummy.
When you are dreaming of steamed rice, this is not an insignificant dream.
This is an indication of a sense of purpose and deliberation.
You could have prepared that rice in many different ways but why is it steamed?
Steam involves pressure.
It also involves preparation and a tremendous amount of consistent heat.
Given these facts, it is no surprise that steam rice symbolizes upcoming success in business or school.
It also indicates that you are the type of person who has laid enough foundation to enjoy some kind of abundance and wealth later on.
But the secret to all of this is deliberation, intentionality and consistent effort.
If you’ve ever tried to steam rice just using a pot and not a specialized rice cooker, you know how tricky it can be, especially if you don’t come from a cultural background where people eat rice as a staple.
In many cases, it might even seem like you’re just rolling the dice.
Sometimes you get a nice pot of steamed rice and other times you just burn the bottom and the top is left raw.
Your subconscious is trying to show you when you’re enjoying steamed rice in your dream that you have begun to think in terms of systems and you also have an appreciation of the Big Picture with any kind of plan, whether it be for business school, or your job.
What does it mean to see spoiled rice in your dream?
While it can be argued that spoiled rice is the foundation of some great Japanese sake wine.
For most people who eat rice regularly, the sight of spoiled rice is not too pleasant.
In fact, if bits have been spoiling in the rice cooker for long, you can definitely smell it.
If you see spoiled rice in your dream your subconscious is trying to communicate to you that you are the type of person who is so risk averse.
You focus so much on deliberation, hoping against hope that if you deliberate enough, you’ll guarantee your results.
Some psychologists call this Analysis paralysis.
A lot of people trick themselves into thinking that if they just think about the problem that they’re trying to solve in so many different ways and make arrangements for all sorts of alternative outcomes, they can guarantee success.
If it only were that easy.
And the problem is, people who get into this type of mindset really end up spinning their wheels, because they continue to gather data, they try to come up with alternative plans.
There is a point that they don’t end up taking action.
And as you probably already know, if you’ve ever been involved in business, or even in looking for high quality jobs, opportunities flash in and out of existence almost instantaneously.
You have to grab those opportunities the moment you become aware of them otherwise, they’re gone for good.
The most lucrative ones quickly disappear, because a lot of people are competing for them.
People are dumb.
And when you find yourself stuck in analysis paralysis, what you’re really doing is you’re robbing yourself of opportunities.
Here you are over analyzing and overthinking things, and then everybody else is just taking leaps of faith.
They will beat you each and every time because all you’re really managing to achieve is giving yourself excuse after excuse not to take action.
Does this mean that you just take action without thinking?
Does this mean that just because you hear of an opportunity that seems so lucrative that you just jump in with both feet with absolutely no due diligence or research?
Of course not.
You still have to use your brain.
But there is a line that you have to cross in faith.
Once you’ve done enough research to understand that this business opportunity or this job opportunity is not a scam or it leads to a dead end job, you have to find the strength to take that leap.
There’s so many things that could go wrong.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
But at some point, you just have to make that leap of faith because you cannot guarantee results despite how much facts you have access to, despite how much research you do.
Because if you go down that rabbit hole, all you have that you’re doing is you’re giving yourself excuse after excuse not to take action.
That’s really what’s going on.
Because you have to understand that your mind sometimes acts as your worst enemy because it fears change.
People often find themselves in this ridiculous situation where they would rather trust and deal with the devil they know instead of taking a gamble on the devil they don’t know.
In reality they can gamble on the unknown.
A lot of times it doesn’t lead to the devil in fact that leads to a much better place.
What does it mean to dream about finding white yet unmilled rice grains?
The white rice grains that you put into a rice cooker or in a pot to cook is actually the end product of a long milling process.
Rice is a cultivated grass that grows relatively quickly.
And when you take a head of rice grain, it is wrapped in a tough outer covering, and when you peel that off, there’s a husk.
And then when you peel that off, there’s rice brand and when you rub that off, what you get is the rice grain.
Well-milled rice is basically just pure carbohydrate.
The bran, germ, or other components have been milled off.
It takes quite a long process to get those pure white rice grains.
If you are dreaming of unmilled rice grains, your subconscious is drawing your attention to your increased ability to understand the full scope of your responsibilities.
A lot of people focus on the finished product.
It takes quite a bit of experience and personal maturity to understand where the finished product comes from.
Since you’re able to see the unmilled rice grains, you have a realistic appreciation of the kind of work needed for you to fulfill your responsibilities.
This is the type of dream that’s usually dreamt off by people who have some kind of responsibility.
I’m talking about parents, managers, supervisors, team leaders and instructors.
This is a good sign.
It indicates that you are taking your role seriously.
Accordingly, you should be more systematic in viewing your responsibilities and handling the different tasks that attach to them.
This is how you become a more effective leader.
Otherwise, you might find yourself micromanaging or cutting off so many different parts from what you’re supposed to cover and supervise that you end up compromising the overall effectiveness of your authority.
People begin to doubt.
People might even think that you’re not all that smart.
This is heavy duty stuff.
So focus on the process, come up with one.
Now that you’re able to see the end goal and the processes that make that happen, it’s high time that you come up with a process that works for you and master it.
Are you going to get it right the first time around?
Of course not.
In fact, the first few times you try you’re going to fail.
But the good news is if you keep trying and custom tailor something that will fit your present circumstances, you will come up with something that works.
What does it mean to wash rice in your dream?
There’s quite a big controversy on TikTok on the proper way to prepare rice.
Some people who are preparing chicken biryani, swear that you shouldn’t wash the rice first.
You should just use raw rice because there’s all sorts of phytonutrients left in the water as well as a flavor agent.
Others beg to differ.
They prefer to wash the rice they will use to make biryani chicken. In fact, many insist the rice should be washed twice.
But if you see yourself washing rice in your dream your subconscious is not trying to communicate to you about cooking food instead it’s telling you that the material success as well as the sexual or romantic success that you’re looking for is beginning to materialize.
Because you have decided to act in a more methodical way.
Now you may be thinking to yourself, “Well, I’m the type of person who does things by the seat of my pants, I just think stuff up and I act based completely on impulse”.
That may be true on the surface, but there’s often a method to the madness.
People might think that they’re just completely doing things randomly by raw chance, but people who consistently get lucky actually have a system.
They have a way of showing up at the right place at the right time doing the right things, saying the right things to produce the right outcome.
You think that is all luck?
Maybe the first time it happened.
But if you are a very observant person, you will be able to figure things out and replicate that luck time and time again.
That takes effort.
That takes intentionality.
When you see yourself cleaning rice, your sense of purpose is kicking in.
And you are able to achieve success primarily because you think in a methodical way.
This doesn’t necessarily mean you are some sort of super genius, but it does give you a leg up when it comes to other people.
Because they’d rather do things randomly.
They’d rather be triggered by the right things happening at the right time, and then feeling the right emotions.
While that may work for some people, there’s just so many variables left on the table that it’s probably not worth doing.
Because at the end of the day, you want to replicate good results and avoid bad ones.
You can’t do that without some sort of method.
What does it mean to dream of buying rice?
When you see yourself buying rice, your subconscious is trying to send you an important message regarding buying opportunities.
Franchise businesses have a higher chance of success because of the brand that they have established.
For example, The subway sandwich shop chain is the biggest franchise brand in the United States.
Just going by the number of stores, no other franchise chain can touch the subway, not even McDonald’s or Burger King.
That’s how dominant the subway is.
But how do you think they reached that dominance?
How do you think they got that market share?
Branding.
They understood how branding works and they streamlined and made it so easy to open a Subway sandwich shop that for every new shop that appears it acts as a free advertising for the other shops that will appear in the future, as well as those that have been opened in the past.
It’s as if each time you come across a subway shop wherever you are in the United States, you see a billboard and you keep seeing that brands subway, subway, subway, what do you think affects this?
There is such a thing as the rule of seven in marketing.
According to marketing experts, people need to see a brand seven times before they even start entertaining doing business with that brand.
Subway has that number seven beat because you can see the subway logo several times in a single day in a typical town or city in the United States.
When you’re buying rice in your dream, you are beginning to think in terms of leverage.
You understand that opportunities should not be viewed alone.
They should be viewed in terms of what is going on with other players in an industry.
That’s the kind of systematic thinking that you have, which helps boost your chances of success.
Now keep in mind that just thinking this way, it’s not enough by itself to guarantee that you will get your money back from your investment and then some.
But it does increase your likelihood of making a profit compared to just getting taken in by the numbers, the low startup costs, as well as whatever brands are involved.
Your subconscious is trying to communicate to you that going with a franchise or going with something that is already branded or some sort of business model where somebody else has done heavy lifting, is the way to go.
You’re definitely on the right track.
But this doesn’t necessarily mean that that is the right decision right here right now.
Maybe you’ll be better off picking another franchise that has the same factors as the one that you’re looking at right now.
What does it mean to plant rice in your dream?
Depending on where you are in the world, planting rice can either be a backbreaking labor, or as simple and straightforward as relaxing in an air conditioned tractor cabin.
In some parts of the world, rice production is done on thousands of hectares.
You read that right.
I’m not talking about a couple of hectares in your backyard.
I’m talking about thousands of hectares.
These are rice farms, the size of small towns.
Imagine that.
And just like with anything involving large scale, economies of scale mean that the per unit price of the agricultural product grown in such land drops quite a bit.
And it’s no surprise that in many countries where large scale heavily mechanized rice farming is done, rice tends to be cheaper.
On the other hand, in developing countries where rice plots are much smaller, and everything is done pretty much by hand, not only are yields much lower, but because of the lower volume, the price per unit of rice is actually quite high.
If you’re going to compare apples to apples in terms of purchasing power, rice in some parts of the developing world is so much more expensive than places like the United States, Italy, and Holland.
If you see yourself planting rice in your dream, pay attention to how you’re cultivating this amazing staple crop.
If you’re planting it by hand, your subconscious is trying to tell you that you need a better method.
While you can see the opportunity and you can be commended for taking a leap of faith and taking action, the method that you’re choosing isn’t very efficient.
Does this mean you’re not going to make money?
Of course not.
You will make money.
But you’re also going to be leaving a lot of money on the table because you’re doing it the wrong way.
On the other hand, if you see yourself relaxing, and letting the tractor go on its automated route and you’re basically just babysitting the tractor inside an air conditioned cabin, this indicates that you are using a tried and proven system for whatever it is you are doing.
Whether it’s school or work, or looking for a job or starting our operating a business, you’re on the right track.
Why?
You’re focused on return on effort.
You’re not just running on the fumes of passion.
Instead, at some point everything is reduced to numbers and you know exactly how much money you’re making for every single dollar you’re investing and whatever venture you’re doing.
This also applies to relationships.
But instead of money, we’re talking about emotions.
There are certain types of relationships that are simply not worth it because the return is not there.
If you’ve ever fallen in and out of love before, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
What does it mean to pile rice on a plate?
If the sight of piling rice on a plate is the central focus of your dream, this indicates you are dealing with a lot of ideas right now.
The problem with the ideas is not so much coming up with them.
Because if you know how to use the internet, and you’re fairly active on social media, great ideas will come at you from all directions.
You will be inspired by the ideas that other people have and before you know it, you come up with your own unique twist or your ordered solution might actually inspire you to solve a seemingly unrelated problem.
Ideas are one of those things that grow in value the more you share them.
Did you know that the zipper was actually invented, not for clothes but for ports?
Zipper was intended to deal with cargo.
Similarly, did you know that the technology behind chain chainsaws was actually developed for dental surgery?
That’s how powerful ideas are because when you’re focused on one thing and solving it, it actually identifies certain processes or certain principles that can be applied to other problems that are seemingly unrelated.
That’s how powerful ideas are.
So be open to people’s ideas.
Don’t dismiss it out of hand.
Don’t automatically say, “Well, I’ve read your other ideas, you’re an idiot. I don’t have time for this”.
No.
Open your mind.
Because it may not fit the problem that they’re pointing the idea to but you have your own brain.
And you can pick apart the idea and reduce it to principles and think of alternative scenarios where the idea might make sense.
This is called mental cross-pollination.
It makes for great brainstorming and it makes for great innovation.
The problem with ideas is not so much there’s a shortage of them.
In fact, it’s the opposite.
There’s too many of them.
So when you dream of putting rice on a plate your subconscious is trying to tell you, you have to have a method for properly placing ideas, positioning them, slicing and dicing them and putting them into equations.
Because that’s how you were going to efficiently filter ideas that may seem flashy and interesting at a shallow level but actually aren’t all that helpful.
And the ones that actually have legs and could be properly implemented and applied can make you a very successful person.
